PwC has announced its sponsorship of the 2017 Staff Relay Series.
This year's event will take place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin at 6pm on Thursday, 25 May.
The 5 x 5km fun relay event is in its seventh year and invites staff members from organisations all around the Dublin area to participate. Each team can choose to raise funds for a charity of their choice.
Speaking at the launch, PwC Managing partner Feargal O'Rourke said: "We're delighted to be involved with the Staff Relay Series. It's a tailor made event for fun, fitness and teamwork among office friends and colleagues but with, I suspect, a fair bit of banter and competitiveness on the evening. It's great that it's an accessible event for all classes of runners from the serious to the fun runners like myself. We're really looking forward to it in PwC."
Global Relay Events, who organise the Staff Relay Series, is keen to point out that the event is not just aimed at the elite runner but is open to any team of work colleagues from the public or private sector and is designed as an alternative summer party for employers and employees alike.
Pierce O'Callaghan, Director, Global Relay Events, added: "The vision of the Staff Relay Series is clear – to provide a unique and special opportunity to build team spirit and create a sense of healthy competition within the workplace and to bring a sense of fun to a running event characterised with our hashtag: #Run4aLaugh.
"The event has grown from strength to strength since the first run in 2011 and with this new and exciting partnership with PwC we are confident we can grow the event exponentially both in Dublin and throughout the other urban areas in Ireland."
More details about the event can be found on the Staff Relay Series website.
Notes to editor:
The event circuit takes a 5km lap including the Kyber Pass, Military Road and the Acres Road before finishing through the Staff Relay Village and the baton changeover zone. The concept of the event is simple – each team comprises of five work colleagues and each member can walk, jog or run their 5km leg of the relay. The final kilometre of each leg passes through the Staff Relay Village – a tented area which will act as the organisation HQ for the night – where co-workers will be waiting to cheer and encourage their fellow work colleagues on as they complete the 5km distance before socialising over refreshments.
