Over two-thirds say lack of understanding of data is a commercial threat - says PwC at Dublin Chamber of Commerce business breakfast this morning

Dublin Chamber of Commerce business briefing
  • 69% of respondents say lack of understanding of data is a commercial threat
  • Good governance critical for enabling new technologies

Speaking at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce business breakfast this morning, David McGee, PwC IT Consulting Partner said:

"Many organisations are concerned about new technology - cloud computing, social media, big data or mobility. In fact, in a recent PwC global survey 69% of respondents saw the lack of understanding of their own customer data as a commercial threat, more than rating supply chain fears, tax increases or new competition. However, while new technology has a role; deriving value from your IT function and your IT investment requires good old fashioned IT governance. The correct alignment of business and IT stakeholders through clear governance will help to drive the justification for many of these new technology initiatives; and give them a much greater likelihood of delivering value".
