03 June, 2021

Helping you to keep up to date with developments in the charity sector

We are delighted to bring you the Summer 2021 edition of Charity News. In this edition, we're looking at a number of matters charities and not-for-profit organisations are interested in.

COVID-19 continues to challenge many charities from an operational and financial perspective, and in this edition we consider the impact of the pandemic on those in the not-for-profit sector, the risks they face, and how to manage them.

Insights include some perspectives on the merits of charity alliances and on topical issues from a risk standpoint as charities look to update their risk registers to take account of pandemic related risks as well as cyber risk which is now more relevant than ever. We look at the findings of the 24th  Annual Global CEO Survey which outlines the viewpoints of over 5,000 business leaders including those working in the not-for-profit sector. We also provide an update on tax matters such as customs, PAYE, bi-lateral agreements, the government COVID-19 supports, and on the VAT compensation scheme.

Finally, we look at some topical regulatory matters, including the new IORP II regulations and the changes they mean for occupational pension schemes, along with what organisations need to do to comply with the Charities Governance Code.
