Do your APMs pass the test?

APMs, or Alternative Performance Measures, are often used by listed companies to explain their results to the outside world. Examples of APMs include free cash flow, EBITDA, and return on capital employed (ROCE). To date there have been no rules on the use of APMs, but this is set to change with accounting regulators turning their attention on them and ESMA releasing guidelines on their use. Fiona Hackett outlines how companies can ensure their APMs pass the test.
