Matthew Twomey was announced as the 2023 PwC Manager of the Year, recognising his outstanding leadership and achievements for the Cork Camogie Team. Appointed as Cork Camogie’s Senior Team Manager in 2021, Twomey saw two All-Ireland final defeats to Kilkenny and Galway, however, remained resolute and determined to lead his team to success in 2023. In his final game as Manager of The Rebels, Cork celebrated their triumphant return to glory after a five-year hiatus, capturing the All-Ireland title and reclaiming their position as a dominant force in camogie. Matthew stepped down from his role in September 2023.

Camogie Association Uachtarán Hilda Breslin said; I would like to congratulate all the Soaring Stars winners from our Premier Junior and Intermediate Championship, which are compiled by a dedicated All-Star Nomination Committee, to celebrate the high performance and commitment of these extraordinary players. The winners highlight the exceptional skill and talent displayed throughout the season for all to enjoy. The awards recognise excellence, dedication, and sportsmanship within our game.

Sincere congratulations to Matthew Twomey on his outstanding achievements and for being an exemplary figure as Manager of the Cork Camogie team. His ability to inspire and motivate his team, coupled with his unwavering commitment, truly sets him apart as a deserving winner of the PwC Camogie Manager of the Year. I would like to wish Matthew the very best in his future endeavours.
