Held just prior to COP28, Extreme Hangout Dublin is one of a series of global events being rolled out by Extreme Hangout in 50 locations with 50 local partners. The event being hosted by PwC in Dublin marks the 12th instalment to this exciting series and is the first of its kind in Ireland and the first in the PwC network.

PwC Ireland’s event aims to highlight the benefits of how personal choices and behaviours can promote sustainable living while also giving back to local communities. Led by a team of PwC Ireland volunteer changemakers, activities taking place during the event include:

  • Workshops on how to create a ‘sustainable capsule’ wardrobe with the help of Monica Martinez, founder Agité Closet, and previously worked with Inditex.

  • Plant-based and zero waste cooking demos and food tasters with Johan van der Merwe, who previously worked under Michel Roux, Sr and Erica Drum, TV chef with Virgin Media Ireland.

  • A sustainable market.

  • Sustainable fashion workshop with the help of Orla Sheridan, contributor and guest stylist for Xposé and Irish Country Magazine.

  • A clothing swap shop (proceeds to charity), and

  • A sustainable fashion show involving local secondary school students.

Speaking at the event, Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said: “Through our event we aim to further raise awareness in a very practical way amongst our people that living our lives more sustainably is possible and has benefits. Taking small steps towards more sustainable living will make a big difference towards meeting our net zero targets as a country, but moreover will ensure that we have a better planet for future generations.”
