One of the things I love about this place is how easy it is to connect with people from different levels and areas of the business. Everyone is super helpful and willing to share what they know, which makes our work more fun and efficient.
I have a mechanical engineering degree from UCD, so I was a bit nervous about working with business experts, but PwC has a really diverse mix of backgrounds—from psychology to engineering, law, history and more. Everyone has something different to offer.
The graduate programme gave me the opportunity to not only learn new skills, but to build new relationships in my team and outside.
Our goal is to help clients transform their businesses and solve their big challenges. PwC supports us to do that by giving us opportunities to upskill, like through Kubicle or certifications like Lean Six Sigma or Prince.
There are so many chances to grow professionally and personally here—you just have to grab them. You can’t do everything, of course, but having a great team around you makes it easier to do more, better.
I think PwC’s culture and work environment is like a bunch of cool and talented people working together. I always want to do more for my team and they feel the same way.
We also have a lot of fun together and get to know each other better. And another awesome thing about working at PwC is the amazing perks—free breakfasts and dinners, Christmas bonuses, the gym, free parking and the new canteen.
PwC also cares a lot about our wellbeing. As long as my schedule and place of work suit my client, my team, and myself, it works for the firm. For example, if I have a match at 6pm on Wednesday, I can talk to my manager and start early that day and it’s usually fine. I also take overtime as time off to make the most of my holiday time.
The ‘work from abroad’ policy is a cool feature as well, and I’ve also had the chance to volunteer through PwC’s partnership with the Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) programme. It helps teach kids about entrepreneurship, employability, financial literacy and the value of STEM.
Outside of work, I have lots of hobbies. I play GAA with my local club and referee ladies’ and men’s football most weekends. I also love to read and now that my weekends are mine again, I’ve been getting back into it.
