What’s it like to work in consulting?

If you decide to join our consulting practise you’ll work with some of the best known brands in Irish business and help them to solve their biggest issues. You’ll help clients innovate and find new ways to improve their operations and performance. You’ll get to work in a variety of different areas - strategy, management, technology and risk - and get the chance to develop a range of skills that will stand to you in the rapidly evolving world of business.

As a graduate in consulting, your career will be varied and exciting. You’ll work with businesses across a range of sectors, including financial services, pharmaceuticals and technology.

You will be immersed in real client projects from day one, and your unique perspectives, skills and insights will contribute to your team’s approach and make a real difference to your clients.

What will your day-to-day role involve?

Working in the consulting team means no two days are ever the same. You’ll work in a fast paced, dynamic and client-facing environment.

Most days you’ll carry out analytical or field research to support your project manager. Your opinion will be valued and actively sought. As you learn, you’ll develop insights for the project, discuss them with your colleagues, and present your findings to your project team.

You will collaborate with your team to deliver high-end solutions to your clients problems. You’ll influence the senior executives in some of Ireland’s leading companies.  

Which part of consulting should I choose?

There are two streams within consulting to choose between.

Technology consulting

Cybersecurity and forensics

Our Cybersecurity and forensics team provides review, design and investigation services to a range of clients and industries including financial services, pharmaceutical, utilities and public sector. You’ll help our clients to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of their data and IT systems.

This multi-disciplinary team brings together experts in Cybersecurity, Ethical hacking, Identity and access management, Data privacy, IT risk, IT compliance, Forensics and eDiscovery.

Data and analytics

The explosion of digital technologies and the insights it offers has provided businesses with more data than they know what to do with. The challenge is knowing how to collate and interpret that data to obtain meaningful information that provides competitive advantage.

The Data and analytics team help our clients maximise the value of their data. They do this by integrating our business intelligence and analytics expertise across industries, geographies, and functional competencies.

The Digital team offer integrated, end-to-end digital solutions to our clients. They offer services from strategy and innovation all the way through to execution, helping to address and solve client problems in an innovative way.

You will help clients imagine and create new products and services on a project-by-project basis. By creating a roadmap of digital initiatives using ideation, creation and design workshops, the Digital team are at the cutting edge of technology.

Financial effectiveness

Senior finance professionals face a myriad of challenges. These include reducing complexity, understanding key value drivers and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their finance functions.

The Financial effectiveness team work with clients across a broad range of sectors. They help to provide innovative viewpoints, independent advice, project management skills and support. They develop solutions which help our clients to address their challenges.

The Operational effectiveness team understand the operational challenges businesses face. Organisations know they need to lower costs, align business models, reduce waste or optimise supply chains, while delivering sustainable results and retaining flexibility.

What professional qualifications will I study for?

We’ll supplement your structured development programme with specialised training in core technical areas. These skills include accounting, project management, supply chain and digital. Graduates who join Financial Effectiveness will study for an accounting professional qualification through either ACCA or CIMA.
