Meet Emily

Emily Kennedy

When I first joined PwC as an ESG Associate in Management Consulting, I was taken aback by the number of opportunities to make a difference—both within the firm and in the wider community. It’s about more than crunching numbers and meeting targets here. It’s about finding your passion and purpose and being given the platform to pursue it.

PwC is a big place, but it doesn’t matter if you’re fresh out of college or an experienced professional; if you’ve got ideas and the drive to see them through, you’ll find people here who believe in you and trust you to lead. There’s also a culture of care where everyone’s door is always open. You can connect with anyone, no matter how high up the ladder they are. They’re ready to listen, chat and mentor.

I’ve always been drawn to social issues. After completing my BA in Social Science and MSc in Management and Marketing, I became increasingly aware of the climate crisis and how businesses can drive sustainability. It’s not just about the environment; it’s about rebuilding our economic, political, and social systems for a more equitable and greener future.

Since joining PwC, I’ve been able to contribute to initiatives and achievements in areas like inclusion and diversity, gender equality, and sustainability. I’ve researched and presented on the importance of gender equality in STEM for a just transition to net zero (including the inaugural Mary Robinson Climate Conference, where I chatted to the former president about climate justice!), attended conferences and connected with female entrepreneurs and academics in the climate tech space. I’ve also been part of panel discussions on women in STEM and got to spread the message to hundreds of people.

I’ve facilitated upskilling sessions on ESG (environmental, social and governance) both internally and externally and contributed to thought leadership on ESG. I’ve also been involved with the Women in Tech team at PwC, helping to establish a mentorship programme for our senior female tech colleagues. And I’ve volunteered with ‘Tech we Can’, a programme to demonstrate the possibilities of a STEM career for young primary students.

I’m also part of the PwC Sustainability Council, where I organise employee engagement initiatives to make sustainability accessible to our colleagues. I’ve run fashion upcycling workshops, dress swaps and even Spencer Dock Beehive Tours, where we learn about the importance of bees in protecting our ecosystem.

Outside PwC, I’m a climate ambassador with An Taisce and help run climate literacy workshops for students in disadvantaged areas.

As you can see, PwC has really helped me follow my passions. The culture here is all about the people—we’re a community of solvers, each bringing a unique perspective. We learn from each other, grow with each other, and solve problems together. And we have a lot of fun doing it too! A strong emphasis on wellbeing, flexibility and work/life balance makes for a healthy and genuinely enjoyable working environment.

So, if you’re looking for a place to make a difference, pursue your passions and be supported every step of the way, join us at PwC!

“ if you’ve got ideas and the drive to see them through, you’ll find people here who believe in you and trust you to lead.”
