PwC are proud sponsors of the Player of the Month Awards across camogie, hurling and football, men’s and women’s. Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh (Kerry) and Róisín McCormick (Antrim) are March winners of the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month Awards for football and camogie respectively.

Stephen Bennett (Waterford) and David Clifford (Kerry) are the PwC GAA/GPA Players of the Month Awards winners for March in hurling and football respectively.

Despite missing the defeat to Kilkenny in Round 5 and the impressive victory over Wexford in the League Division 1 semi-final, Déise marksman Bennett was awarded the Player of the Month for March based on his exceptional performance against Tipperary at the beginning of the month, where he hit an impressive 1-16.

Kingdom forward Clifford scored six points against Mayo in Round 5 of League Division 1, while his goal in Round 6 proved the difference against Armagh.

Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh played a starring role for Kerry as they navigated Round 3 and the semi-final of the Ladies National Football League against Laois and Monaghan respectively.

Róisín McCormick was crucial to Antrim’s progress throughout March in the National Camogie League, where the Saffrons secured wins against Laois and Carlow.

Commenting on the announcement, Feargal O’Rourke, Managing Partner, PwC, said: “Everyone at PwC would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Louise, Róisín, David and Stephen on being named the first Player of the Month Award winners for 2022. The skill and commitment these players demonstrate is a great source of pride to their counties, their clubs and their communities.

“We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in men’s and women’s Gaelic Games equally. Our four winners delivered superb displays in March and we look forward to seeing them all again in action over the course of the season.”

Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Larry McCarthy said: “David and Stephen are two exceptionally talented and gifted young players who are delivering at senior level on the outstanding promise they showed at underage level. These awards are deserving recognition for the excellence they produced in the Allianz leagues and I want to thank PwC for their support in acknowledging all of our great players.”

Speaking on behalf of the CEO of the GPA, Tom Parsons added: “Congratulations to Louise, Róisín, David and Stephen. Their performances during the league, particularly in March, were exceptional and they are worthy of being recognised by their peers in this way.  I wish them all well for the remainder of the year and who knows, we could see them back at the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month Awards again before the season concludes.

“My thanks to PwC who are again leading the way when it comes to giving female and male players the same platform and promotion. They have been strong advocates and allies for inter-county players for quite a number of years and that support is greatly appreciated.”

The PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month and PwC GAA/GPA Players of the Month Award winners are voted for by the GPA’s membership.
