Net zero transformation

03 November, 2021

In August, a landmark United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report warned that global heating is irreversible and issued its starkest warning that, unless meaningful action is taken to reduce emissions, the world is on course for catastrophic warming. As a result, the EU and Irish government are issuing new directives and legislation, including carbon budgets and mandatory reporting measures, which will have a transformative impact on the economy and business.

PwC partner Kim McClenaghan was joined by three expert guests:

  • John Sadlier, Chief Sustainability Officer, Ardagh Group
  • Sinéad Hickey, Head of Sustainability, John Sisk & Sons
  • Fiona Gaskin, PwC risk and assurance Partner

The panel shared practical advice on what the Government's new carbon budgets are likely to mean for Irish businesses, how organisations can set science-based decarbonisation targets and how to achieve purpose and impact in your sustainability reporting.
